1. Who we are

Forecast Frenzy ("we", "our") operates the website and services at forecastfrenzy.app. We run prediction leagues where you can make predictions, join leagues, and compete with others. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data.

2. Data we collect

We collect and process:

  • Account data: email address, display name, and (if you set one) password hash. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email and name from Google.
  • Profile data: country, team name, team icon and colour preferences (e.g. helmet colour), preferred currency, and email notification preferences. You choose these for leagues and profile.
  • Usage data: your predictions, league memberships, standings, and head-to-head results. We need this to run leagues and calculate scores.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, and similar data from our hosting and analytics (e.g. Vercel). We may use cookies and similar technologies as described in our cookie notice.

3. How we use your data

We use your data to:

  • Provide and operate the service (accounts, leagues, predictions, scoring).
  • Display your name, team, and results to other members in the same league.
  • Send you transactional emails (e.g. password reset) and pick reminder emails when you have outstanding predictions before a deadline. You can opt out of pick reminders at any time from your profile settings or during sign-up.
  • Improve the service, security, and performance (including analytics).
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

4. Legal basis (GDPR)

If you are in the UK or EEA, we process your data on the basis of: (a) contract (to provide the service), (b) consent where we ask for it (e.g. marketing, non-essential cookies), and (c) legitimate interests (e.g. security, analytics, improving the product) where appropriate.

5. Sharing your data

We share data only as needed:

  • Within leagues: Other members in a league can see your display name, team name, and predictions/standings in that league.
  • Service providers: We use providers for hosting (e.g. Vercel), database, email, and analytics.
  • We do not sell your personal data. We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our rights and safety.

6. Retention

We keep your account and league data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we anonymise your profile (your name and contact details are removed and your account is shown as "Deleted Account"). We keep your predictions and league history so that head-to-head results and standings remain valid for other members. Leagues you created stay if other members are in them. We may retain some data longer where required by law or for legitimate interests (e.g. aggregated analytics).

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: access your data, correct it, request erasure ("right to be forgotten"), restrict processing, data portability, object to processing, and withdraw consent. You can also complain to a supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, use the "Delete account" option in Profile Settings or contact us (see below).

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures (e.g. HTTPS, hashed passwords, secure hosting) to protect your data. No system is completely secure; we will notify you and regulators where we are required to do so if a breach affects your data.

9. International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries outside your residence. We ensure appropriate safeguards (e.g. standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions) where required by law.

10. Children

Our service is not directed at under-16s. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we have collected a child's data, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and, for material changes, we will notify you (e.g. by email or in-app notice).
